Congratulations to the top 3!
Not even a couple of points behind team "EM Strasbourg" were team "Free to choose" from Beijing Institute of Technology (China), in second place, and team "RM&Co" from Institut Lyfe – ex Institut Paul Bocuse (France) in third place.
Like other years, this year’s competition was made up of a simulation and a case task in the form of a video. The simulation and case task both shared equal parts of the final score weighing in at 50% each.
The Cesim Elite 2023 Finalists
In this year's competition, the finalists engaged in the Hospitality simulation, making ESG decisions while managing a hotel and its restaurant. Their focus included catering to both hotel guests and external restaurant customers, with a keen emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance factors.
The finalists had to present the case task in the form of a 5-minute video. The teams were put into the company’s shoes that would like to sell to a hotel chain like the one they were playing as in the simulation. In the case task part of the competition, the teams’ companies produce sustainable bed sheets, and aim to sell their 100% carbon-neutral products to hotel chains. Their task was therefore to develop a strategy that effectively communicates the benefits of their products, justifies their pricing, and optimizes their supply chain so that they can position themselves as a leader in the eco-friendly space and contribute to the hotel industry's carbon emissions reduction goals.
The top 3 in the case task were team "Latitude 66° North" from Tongji University (China), team "Free to choose" from Beijing Institute of Technology (China) which managed to take second place in this part of the competition as well, and team "PUC Economia" from PUC Campinas (Brazil).
