Business Games At Tourism & Hospitality Management Faculty In Opatija

Lorena Bašan using Cesim Business SimulationsThe Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, Croatia has been using business strategy games in its classes since 2012, which makes it one of the first educational institutions in Croatia to use this method in the teaching process. During the summer semester, they used two types of business simulation games: Cesim SimBrand and Cesim OnService.

Download Free Guide Book Cesim SimBrand Marketing SimulationBusiness management game Cesim SimBrand was used by Lorena Bašan, Phd., Assistant Professor within the subject "Marketing of Travel Agencies" which was attended by regular and Erasmus exchange students. Cesim SimBrand is an online marketing simulation game which enables students to understand the process of making marketing decisions under complex market conditions. Two groups of students participated in the business game and each group consisted of 9 teams. This marketing game encourages team-work by requiring students to make decisions together thus connecting all segments: market characteristics, demands of targeted business segments, product features, price, distribution channels, promotion and financial results of decisions.


Marko Perić using Cesim Business SimulationsThe other business game Cesim OnService was used by Marko Perić, Phd, Assistant Professor in his class “Business games”. Cesim OnService is a small business simulation game designed to give students the experience of running a family hotel. Six groups of students had to define and implement the strategy for their virtual business. The strategy had to encompass several strategic areas of business activities such as: possibilities to spread to other markets, investments, human resources, the quality of services, pricing policy and marketing.

Students in both courses have successfully mastered the online simulation games. Both students and their mentors are extremely satisfied with this method of learning and teaching which is definitely a good recommendation for continuing with this kind of education at our Faculty. 

 

 

 

POSLOVNE SIMULACIJE (BUSINESS GAMES) U NASTAVI NA FMTU

Na Fakultetu za menadžment u turizmu i ugostiteljstvu, Opatija u ovoj akademskoj godini po prvi puta su u nastavi korištene poslovne simulacije (business games) tvrtke Cesim iz Finske, čime se naš Fakultet ubraja među prve obrazovne institucije u Hrvatskoj koje koriste ovaj oblik u procesu edukacije. U okviru ljetnog semestra korištene su dvije vrste simulacija: SimBrand i OnService.

Poslovnu simulaciju «SimBrand» koristila je doc.dr.sc. Lorena Bašan u okviru kolegija «Marketing turističkih agencija», kao i kolegija «Marketing of travel agencies» čiji su polaznici studenti na Erasmus razmjeni. «SimBrand» je on-line marketing menadžment simulacija koja omogućava studentima razumijevanje procesa donošenja marketinških odluka u složenim tržišnim uvjetima. U poslovnu simulaciju bile su uključene dvije grupe studenata, a u okviru svake grupe bilo je 9 timova. Ova poslovna simulacija potiče timski rad, budući da su studenti morali donositi usuglašene i zajedničke odluke kao tim, te omogućava povezivanje svih segmenata prilikom donošenja marketinških odluka, od karakteristika tržišta i postojećih zahtjeva ciljnih tržišnih segmenata, karakteristika proizvoda, cijene, kanala distribucije, promocije i financijskih efekata donesenih odluka. 

Drugu poslovnu simulaciju, Cesim OnService, koristio je doc.dr.sc.Marko Perić na svom kolegiju ''Poslovne simulacije''. «OnService» je simulacijska Internet platforma dizajnirana da studentima pruži realno iskustvo vođenja jednog malog uslužnog poduzeća, preciznije obiteljskog hotela. Ukupno šest grupa studenata je za svoju virtualnu kompaniju moralo definirati i provoditi strategiju koja je na najbolji način trebala obuhvatiti nekoliko strateški bitnih područja poslovanja poput mogućnosti širenja na novo tržište, investicija, ljudskih resursa, kvalitete usluga, politike cijena i marketinga.

Studenti su na oba kolegija uspješno savladali korištene poslovne simulacije.  Pozitivno iskustvo i mišljenje o ovakvom načinu rada i učenja zajednički dijele studenti i njihovi mentori, što je zasigurno preporuka za nastavak ovakvog oblika edukacije na našem Fakultetu.
